My Work Experience with Retro from Scratch
This June I had my first work experience student with me for a week to learn more about running a creative business. One of the tasks I gave them was to write a blog post about their working week. And here it is!
Monday - I thought of some ideas for Transformation Tuesday - this is where Becky takes materials you usually wouldn't use for book covers, like a soda can and turns them into notebooks.
Tuesday - We went to the Brentwood Art Gallery - the art was outstanding and I learnt what it is like to work in a gallery space. I even did some art myself and I found it fun.
Wednesday- We labelled up notebooks and restocked The Chicken and Frog Bookshop in Brentwood and The Art Place in Chelmsford with new notebooks and took the old books out.
Thursday - We went to Merrymeade Tearoom to deliver a handbag workshop using old book paper. The ladies made some amazing collages and really cool handbags. I got to make my own with all my hyperfixations on it! After lunch I helped finish off people's notebook orders that had come in through the website.
Friday - This is my last day working. I've enjoyed it and I've helped making books throught he week and today I am in the gallery again. Today I brought my badge machine along and made some Art Trail merch! Thank you to Becky for letting me work here!
